Labo Village

The population of Labo Village, Ngoro Sub-division came out in their numbers on December 29, 2020 at the reception ceremony of the Sekakoh – PISCCA borehole.

The borehole, constructed by Sekakoh, is a partnership project with PISCCA aimed at ameliorating access to potable water for the population around the peripheries of the Mpem and Djim National Park.

In attendance were the Mayor of Ngoro municipality, Madame Mango Anne Marceline, The sub Divisional officer for Ngoro Sub-division, Mr Meme Olinga Brice Charly, represented by his SP Mr Meyo Jean Louis, His Majesty the Paramount Chief of Sanaga Shanti, Baveuks Resident Ngoro represented by Mr. Ngakathou Gaston, The Brigade Commander of Ngoro, The Chief of Serére village and the Chief of Labo village.

In his welcome speech, the Chief of Labo highlighted the the endless scarcity of water in his village, adding that water, is life while thanking Sekakoh, the French Embassy and the technical assistance to the park for giving them life.

In the video, the D.O’s representative, the Brigade Commander, village Chiefs, MINFOF representative, led by the mayor, Mrs Anne, officially opens the borehole fence and does the first water pumping as locals applauded.

Sustainable management

To ensure a sustainable use of this gift, a management committee led by a woman, Mrs. Nyapwang Else Doulaye, was installed by the Mayor of Ngoro.

This committee had undergone basic training on basic manual borehole maintenance and fault detection. To crown this, a newly secured tool box was handed to this committee. It should also be noted that the population of Labo had agreed with the management committee to contribute CFA 300Frs/month per household for the maintenance of the borehole.
